And So It Begins

International travel isn’t new to me, but at the same time, it’s new to me every time I step off an airplane.

I’ve been lucky enough to travel all of the United States, the Caribbean, Italy, New Zealand and Australia, but today, I step foot in Costa Rica for the first time. I’ve never been to Central America, which is the case for most of the Vida team. However, that changes today.

This afternoon, we’ll step off the plane onto new soil, breathe in tropical air and enjoy breathtaking scenery while facing the challenges of a new language we don’t know, unfamiliar streets and a culture we’ve never experienced.

Despite all the challenges, I have complete faith in this team.

Over the next week and a half, we will visit four cities in Costa Rica, explore volcanoes, try new foods, see all sorts of wildlife and try some of the strongest coffee in the world (we’ll need it before this issue is all said and done). Then, at the end of it all, we’ll return to The University of Alabama and put the website together for all of you wonderful people, because, in the long run, we’re creating this for you.

You travelers dying to visit Costa Rica one day, you homebodies who just need a photo to see the world, you dreamers who haven’t gotten out of Alabama or Mississippi or Georgia or California or wherever you’re from yet, you vacationers wanting a place to relax or you adventurers wanting to zipline or surf. It’s all for you.

In return, we get the trip of a lifetime.
