Food Blog

Everyone has something they can’t shut up about. For me, it’s food.

I realize this does not make me special. In fact, the blend of my Mississippi Delta roots and interest in the culinary world may make me a cliche.

Nonetheless, I’m excited to delve into the world of Costa Rican cuisine. I’ll admit that I don’t know much about the food culture in this country, but I’m determined to learn as much as I can during my time here.

I do know that I love several elements of the cuisine, like fresh herbs, tropical fruits and smoky salsas. Fried, sweet plantains are one of my favorite foods, and rice and beans are already staples of my diet.

This blog will document the Costa Rican culinary peculiarities I discover, from casados to pinto gallo to tamales that are vastly different from the ones tethered to the place I call home.

I’m certain I’ll fuel my mornings by drinking freshly roasted (and cheap!) coffee, and I’ll get my fill of flavors I already love, but mostly, I’m excited to encounter surprises along the way.
